This is a book review as part of my B&H/Lifeway Blogging, so sit back and read about a book you might need.
I got to look through and read the Mighty Reader Workbook for grade 1. It was an interesting workbook that I can see would be very beneficial as an addition to a home school classroom or as supplement material for helping reinforce what children are learning at school.
The format of the book is excellent. It has 13 stories from the Bible (and includes references from the Bible). It also has a mix of Old and New Testament stories.
It starts with an explanation for parents of reading skills and reading strategies that will be worked on, so it gives a good overview to take the fear out of helping your child with these important skills.
It has a story, for example the first one is Noah and the ark, and then it has a workbook page for 6 days following the same story. It goes through different reading strategies and key reading principles, such as building vocabulary, reading comprehension and other important reading skills.
I like that it focuses on the same story for the week so that it truly reinforces that story along with the reading skills.
They layout is clean and the worksheets are well organized. Overall I think this book would be an excellent resource for reinforcing early reading skills and a great opportunity for parents and children to read and interact with Bible stories together.
This book is available through LifeWay, Amazon and many other book retailers.
